유래[편집]
곡(Gog)은 보통 '곡과 마곡'이라는 문구로 숙어처럼 사용되는데 곡(Gog)은 인명이고, 마곡(Magog)은 지명이다. 따라서 곡과 마곡은 이순신과 조선처럼 마곡 땅의 곡이라는 뜻이다.
곡(Gog)은 히브리어로 גּוֹג֙인데 유목민이라는 뜻이고, 마곡(Magog)은 히브리어로 מָגוֹג인데 곡의 고향이라는 뜻이다.
